I'm on Campus and ... app for iPhone and iPad

This App implements a new kind of Location-Based Service (LBS), more precisely a micro-broadcast Location-Based Service (mb-LBS). That is, with this new App we intend to increase the interaction between users specifically located within a given geographical area - for example, a University Campus.

How it works?

With this new LBS (mb-LBS), a user can compose and broadcast a message to other users, informing them of the existence of an offer or request for assistance, valid for a period of time determined by the sender. The Users who receive the message are those that are located at a distance from the sender that allows them to respond to the offer/request, posted on the message, within the time period set by the sender user.

One of the key features that this new LBS provides is a context-sensitive help to the composition of the messages. Therefore, to the user will be offered assistance field-by-field depending on the context underlying the options that the user is doing during the composition of each message.

After the message has been composed, the user can add location information, such as its current GPS coordinates and/or additional information of the present location (if it is inside a building), and add an image/photo taken in that same moment (from the camera of the device) or, simply add an image/photo that is already available in the photo library.

Here is a practical offer or request for "transportation" scenario:
- Im on Campus and ... Im available to give transport to "Porto" for "2 people" for about "00h:20m" OR
- Im on Campus and ... Im interested in having / in getting transportation to "Porto" for "1 people with baggage" for about "00h:40m"

One last example, now, of an academic offer or request scenario:
- Im on Campus and ...Im available to clear doubts about "Operating Systems" for about "01h:00m" (shared by a Teacher, for example) OR
- Im on campus and ... Im interested to form a study group about "/ for the exam of Operating Systems" for about "02:00m" (shared by a student, for example )

To receive notifications only from those closest to you, you may choose to update your GPS coordinates to the cloud for a specified time interval. This update operation will use your GPS, even if your application is running in background mode, but only during the time you just specified. Because continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life, you can set the parameters "Distance Filter" and "Desire Accuracy" in order to save battery.
